DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

As the violence in Ukraine intensifies the safety of people fleeing the conflict becomes more concerning by the hour.

At Ukraine’s borders with Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova, thousands of people are arriving with only what they can carry.
They face long queues in sub-zero temperatures and scant facilities waiting for them on the other side.

In response to the unfolding humanitarian crisis, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has launched an emergency fundraising appeal. Action Against Hunger and 14 leading UK aid charities are joining together to urgently address this crisis.

So far more than half a million people in Ukraine have fled their homes to escape the violence. Basic needs such as access to food, clean water, shelter, health assistance, hygiene and sanitation are currently out of reach for many women and children fleeing the conflict.

DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in neighbouring countries. They are working on the ground right now providing vulnerable families with:

  • Rescue blankets

  • Thermal containers

  • Outdoor cooking pots for preparing food over fire

  • Food and drinks, including nourishing instant soups , granola bars, fruit puree, coffee and tea
